ShipCSX Training
Last year, CSX eBusiness hosted training sessions in various cities. Our goal was to get out and meet our customers while providing ShipCSX updates and timely training. We met with 73 ShipCSX chemical users in Houston. Just recently we traveled to Cincinnati providing training to over 60 ShipCSX users. Our customers had the opportunity to learn about CSX eBusiness and the different tools we offer. As well as getting updated with our latest ShipCSX tools, an emphasis was placed on need-to-know tools, like Plant Switch and Shipment Problem Resolution. The training concluded with an interactive workshop where attendees could ask the experts about any of our eBusiness tools. Look for future training in your area.

New Security Feature for Data Exchange
CSX now requires all trading partners that exchange electronic data with CSX via FTP based communications to register their public IP (Internet) address with the technology security team. This new layer of security, in addition to trading partner specific users IDs and passwords, help ensure the highest level of data protection we can provide. If the IP address is not registered in our firewall, the organization attempting to access our network will be denied entry. Work on this project began in July of 2009 and was implemented in January 2010. All FTP enabled trading partners were contacted an informed of the requirement. During the second half of 2009, trading partners were able to log into a test server that had the IP requirements enabled to verify that CSX had correctly recorded their information. This testing also allowed many trading partners to learn that they had multiple public IP addresses pointed to CSX. If a trading partner enables a new IP address, they can forward it to [email protected]. The B2B support team will verify the IP address and work with the technology security team to have the new IP address loaded.

Unit Train Management Tool
For our non-coal customers:

Over the next few months, we'll be rolling out Unit Train Management tool for our bulk, rock and grain unit train customers. The tool was originally developed for our coal customers. It has recently been modified for customers of our other unit train commodities to help them input and manage their shipments. Customers will be notified as to when they'll see it in ShipCSX.

For our coal customers, March 1st, will bring several improvements:
  • Coal Loading Requests will be auto-activated before the beginning of a month to improve reservation planning and fulfillment
  • Coal Producers will see the 7-day Agree-to-load function change to an easier to use monthly Plan-to-load one
  • Coal Producers will also be able to recommend the loading order and sequencing of their orders using a new 7-day planning tool
Over the next few weeks, expect to receive emails with details on our unit train changes in ShipCSX.
